Checkouts & Renewals
Renewals and Loan Periods A due date receipt is given at checkout. You can also check My Account to see when your items are due, renew your materials, or to place hold requests or check your requests. Renewals - Visit - Renew your items at the Checkout Desk of the Santa Fe Springs City Library
- Online - Renew your items online using My Account. Your PIN number is the last four digits of your phone number on file with us.
- Phone - Call 562-869-5723 with a touch-tone phone. Please have your library card ready. The renewal line is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Always note your new due dates to verify the renewal.
| An item may not renew if: - The item is on hold for another borrower
- The item is a DVD
- The item has been renewed the maximum number of times

Loan Periods All books and magazines - Checkout period: 3 weeks
- 2 renewals unless requested by another patron
| Audiobooks - Checkout period: 3 weeks
- 2 renewals unless requested by another patron
- Limit of 6 audiobooks per library card
| Compact Discs - Checkout period: 3 weeks
- 2 renewals unless requested by another patron
- Limit of 6 compact discs per library card
| Language CDs - Checkout period: 3 weeks
- 2 renewals unless requested by another patron
- Limit of 6 titles per library card
| Educational DVDs - Checkout period: 7 days
- 2 renewals unless requested by another patron
- No renewals on new DVDs
- Limit of 6 educational DVDs per library card
| Entertainment DVDs - Checkout period: 7 days
- 2 renewals
- No renewals on new DVDs
- Limit of 6 entertainment DVDs per library card
- $1 per item at checkout
| Interlibrary Loan Items - Checkout period: 3 weeks
- No renewals
- A fee of $5 is due when the item is picked up by the borrower, plus any postage or special fees added by the lending institution.

Reference Items Reference Items are not available for checkout. However, please ask a staff member to assist you in finding materials that are available for loan. Returns Items may be returned to the Santa Fe Springs City Library or the Downey City Library. Book drops are available at both locations. Audiovisual Returns When borrowing and returning an audiovisual item: - Make sure all books and discs are included before checking out or returning an item.
- The Santa Fe Springs City Library is not responsible for any damage caused to your equipment by our materials.
- If an item is missing a piece, we will attempt to contact you. If the item has not been returned after 10 days, you will be charged for the missing piece (or, in some instances) the entire item. No fee adjustments or refunds will be offered after the 10-day period.
