Beautification Committee Advises the Council on policy matters concerning beautification of the City. Candidates should have an active interest in promoting beautification of the City, including, but not limited to, an interest in landscaping and the aesthetic development of the City. Community Program Committee Plans and coordinates programs for the education or entertainment of the City's residents. Candidates should have an interest in promoting the arts and an understanding of the educational/cultural needs of the community. Family & Human Services Advisory Committee Advises and recommends programs designed to meet the social needs of the City. Candidates should have an active interest in social services and an awareness of the needs of the residents. Professional or volunteer experience in social service management would be helpful, but not required. Friends of the Library Supports the Santa Fe Springs City Library by volunteering for events and programs held in the library and supports the library by raising funds for library programs and materials.Members should have the Library's vision and interest of public education and information. Heritage Arts Advisory Committee Serves as a review panel to ensure that all City Council established criteria have been met with regards to commissioning public art. Candidates should have an interest in public art. Meeting Date: Last Tuesday of every month.No meeting in December. Historical Advisory Committee Collects and preserves memorabilia relative to the history of Santa Fe Springs. Candidates should have an interest in the heritage and historical preservation of the City. Parks & Recreation Advisory Committee Advises on programs that best meet the recreational needs of the community; assists in policy formation regarding conservation and recreational activities. Candidates should have an active interest in sports, recreation programs and open-space preservation. Senior Citizens Advisory Committee Plans and conducts projects that will foster mutual understanding about Senior Citizens. Candidates must be 60 years of age or older with an active interest in Senior affairs. Youth Leadership Advisory Committee Fosters greater involvement of youth in the community and municipal government. The committee studies problems, activities, and concerns of youth as they relate to municipal programs or projects of the City and recommends solutions to the Council. Candidates must be between the ages of 13 and 18 years. No more than 2 family members may participate on the committee during any term.
